Why A NY-Bred?

New York-breds... they start with an advantage.

New York State is the ideal location to breed, raise, train, and race your thoroughbred. From the rolling pastures of Saratoga County to the fertile Hudson River Valley and west to the Genesee Valley, New York boasts some of the best grazing land and training facilities in the country, producing strong-boned horses of national and international acclaim.

What better place to test your handiwork and investment than in the most successful incentive program in North America at four of the finest tracks in the world? Each of New York's tracks provide a unique and exciting racing experience--Saratoga Race Course, offering the best thoroughbred racing in the world for six weeks a year, beautiful Belmont Park near the shores of Long Island, and its sister track Aqueduct Race Track, both just a heartbeat from the Capital of the World, New York City. There is also Finger Lakes Race Track in New York's scenic wine country, close to both Rochester and Niagara Falls. All offer ample racing opportunities for the New York-bred racehorse, with owners, breeders, and stallion owners receiving significant awards money as incentive for participation at every level of the sport.

For breeders, the rewards go beyond the selling of offspring, as they continue earning dividends throughout their horses' New York racing careers. And at the $30,000 claiming level and above, owners can earn additional money for simply campaigning a New York-bred in New York State.

For registered New York stallions, the stallion owner continues to benefit financially beyond the standard stallion stud fees as his or her stallion's progeny race and earn purse money at New York racetracks. In addition, there is the New York Stallion Stakes Series, which is restricted to eligible progeny of nominated registered New York-based stallions. The Stallion Stakes Series is operated by the New York Racing Association.
